Info:
Today we welcome the official release of FileMaker 14, an upgrade that provides significant improvements to both the development process and the deployment of solutions. We also have more information about our new Compliance Module with STATS attendance reporting, and advice about a recent security update for FileMaker versions 12 and 13.
New Compliance Module with STATS Attendance Report
With the significant changes to the Department of Education’s annual data collection on student attendance (STATS/DEEWR) schools are required to report enrolment and attendance data separately for the first semester and the third term for 2015.
We have created a new Compliance Module to produce not only this report but also other government reports required during the school year such as the Yearly Attendance Percentages and Census report. By bringing all of the reports together into a single module we have developed a simpler interface with improved user efficiency, and we can integrate it with your existing Denbigh solution quickly.
FileMaker 12 and 13 Security Update
Just a reminder as mentioned in a recent newsletter, FileMaker recently released patches to correct an SSL vulnerability in FileMaker 12 and 13. These updates must be applied to Server, then Desktops and iOS Devices.
Please be aware that if your FileMaker Server has not yet been updated, as soon as any iOS users update their FileMaker Go version (often via auto update), they will lose the ability to connect to your FileMaker Server.
We therefore urge all customers running FileMaker 12 or 13 to update their servers as soon as practicable, and then update the client computers.
FileMaker Introduces Version 14
FileMaker today announced a new version to their development platform. This new release includes many new features that will be beneficial to Denbigh Administration users.
The announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of FileMaker software.
"FileMaker 14 is the culmination of 30 years of helping customers exploit the latest platforms - from Mac and Windows then through iOS devices and mobile web browsers today - meeting users' rising expectations for data accessibility, simplicity and mobility," said Ryan Rosenberg, vice president of marketing and services for FileMaker, Inc.
As a Platinum FileMaker Partner, Denbigh International has been working with an advance release of FileMaker 14 to ensure compatibility and experiment with the new features available. Comprehensive testing of our solution in sample production environments is not yet complete but we are very excited about the new release and will be working with you to implement the upgrade as soon as we are satisfied that Denbigh Admin is working correctly with this latest version.
Denbigh International developers are currently testing compatibility of Denbigh Administration with FileMaker 14. At the moment we advise not upgrading immediately until we have finished compatibility testing, rather work with us on a scheduled upgrade to ensure minimal disruption to your database.
